I love my Nespresso machine and, what's more, it's been used regularly since I got it. Expensive, sure, but so nice!

Whatever happened to The Gobbling Teasmade - are they still sought after

Any time I have had one of them coffees, it's been 10x better than any instant coffee I have had.

After marrying an Italian, I was weaned off instant coffee onto the strong espresso stuff at a very early stage (with a corresponding improvement in the rest of my diet too).
But having acquired one of the Pod machines, I have to say the quality of the coffee is excellent with a fraction of the effort needed to use an old-school macchinetta. No more checking the seals, screwing together without twisting threads, then cleaning out, washing and drying afterwards.
Only problems are cost is many times more per cup of coffee, plus a supposed environmental disaster underway with the number of used pods now going into landfill. Apparently the combination of wet organics (the coffee), plastic and thin aluminium foil is virtually impossible to recycle.
Sorry, drifting a bit OT here (Black Coffee Friday, anyone?)
In the UK, Nespresso now do free recycling of the used capsules (they get collected by courier, although usually not at the same time as the delivery of the new ones, which always seems daft....)
I read somewhere (can't remember) that a lot of these capsules still aren't actually recycled after being collected.
Probably the same with Nespresso - more about making their customer demographic feel good about being environmentally responsible than doing anything meaningful with the waste. After all, George Clooney and his slim, attractive coffee-drinking companions wouldn't stuff up the planet, would they?
