If you missed out on the Santa Trains at the Bo'ness and Kinneil Railway because they were fully booked, you can still have a steam run before the end of the year.

There will be three steam runs each day on 30 and 31 December, departing Bo'ness at 1045, 1215 and 1400 hours, all running over the extended line to Manuel. Fares are adult £9.00, concession £8.00, child £4.50 (under 5s are free) and family (2+3) £22.50.

...and to celebrate travelling on one of the last steam hauled trains to run in Scotland in 2010, your fare includes a slice of traditional Scottish Black Bun and a cup of tea or coffee.

No need to book, just turn up and enjoy!

I spotted about these 'black bun' specials last night when I was looking up gen on the 37 event at Bo'ness which is a couple of days later - I had never heard of them before. Hopefully there's be some black bun leftovers for people attending the 37 event!

I actually really want to go to that 37 event, but the public transport services that day is going to make that very VERY hard.

Not sure where you're based but some of us are managing it from Yorkshire on that day.

Unfortunately, local buses and trains don't kick in until mid-morning, I believe. In fact, Traveline Scotland can't find anything public transport-wise from my location (which I'm not going to give out) to Bo'ness.
