Think there's a 45 limit for tender-first running.

That's fast: in my Australian state on broad gauge (1600mm), steam locos tender first are restricted to a maximum speed of 50kmh (about 31mph), even though R class locos (built by North British Locomotive Co in the early 1950s) are capable funnel first on main lines of 115kmh (though restricted on some main lines to 80kmh). So UK ones, tender first, can travel c.50 per cent faster.

Never thought of it like that!

I admit to just thinking of it in a GB context where it means 45mph vice 60 or 75.
