This is the first email I have received off BITE with regards to anything, I wonder why half of us got the various ones mentioned previously and the others just this last minute warning one.

I too will now make very, very little use of the card.

Just got mine today as well, I suppose it was good while it lasted at 20 %. It says October 1st is changeover to the new discount.

Along with others I will be actively seeking alternative sources of refreshment at or near Railway Stations.

I really think they have shot themselves in the foot with this measure - why not just can it completely ?

Same here - a big shame and surely it'll just make the scheme pointless?

20% meant I used railway food outlets - it took the price of a Burger King down to a reasonable amount and meant coffee and pastry etc was a sensible choice not a ripoff.

10% tips it back the other way so I'll just go back to not buying anything - which given the markup on things like BK and the fact many others will follow suit must surely mean this will do the retailers more harm than good?

Given the new 10% discount price will be £1.44 I'll certainly be more inclined to pay the approx 50p more and buy on board from a buffet or trolley where available!

I'm sure I'll still use it. I used station facilities before I ever had a BITE card, and I didn't really use them any more after I got it, I just got stuff cheaper. I'll still be getting a discount which isn't bad for a free card, but might just wince a bit more when I find out how much my burger king/sausage roll is!

Just had the email too, a week's notice is cutting it fine, but then it's not the sort of thing you want to promote too much.

20% just about makes it worth buying on the station, 10% doesn't. So it'll be the high street shops two minutes' walk from the station from now on. I'm not sure what the motivation for the cut is, it must be greed.

When I last went to Pumpkin it was Typhoo tea. I actually dislike Typhoo because I think it's too strong!

Have you tried Wetherspoons?

Closer to home there is always the Railway Tavern at Falkirk Grahamston - a local lass once got her baps out over the pocket as I was attempting to take a shot on the pool table - a quality establishment!

Platform 3 & The Star & Garter at Linlithgow also offer a more genteel welcome not far from the station.

Somehow, I do not fear that you will waste away due to thirst or hunger.

Same here. Just means 20p more for a coffee at Wigan North Western or Preston (local outlets are neither close nor convenient) or a smaller pasty from the Pasty Shop at Euston!

Good though that it coincides with Waitrose opening at Manchester Piccadilly - free coffee and cheaper food, even at Waitrose prices!

I thought "Go Go" dancers were a thing of the past in Pubs - remember them well in the seventies....

Mind you the Railway Tavern you speak of appears to conform to that description - at least from the outside.

Oh well, atleast I can get a brew from the mini waitrose outside snow hill for free or try the old cup of just hot water trick (obtain a few sachets of coffee from local brewers fayre or other whitbread hotels restaurant and tip it into the cup!)

Still not got the email here. My tradition of a coffee from Pumpkin when getting the 0849 or 0940 off Hereford appears to be getting binned. Morrisons across the road has terrible coffee, so since I normally have a long wait before either train I'll just get off the bus 5 minutes earlier. Almost opposite the new Costa and I LOVE Costa's coffee so I will gain!

£2.50 before Bite Card discount in my local Pumpkin, £2 with it for a large Americano. With the new 10% off it'll be £2.25, which is only 15p cheaper than the equivilent in Costa so will be a win for me!

Fortunately Costa is also at Manchester Piccadilly and Birmingham New Street, as well as Liverpool Lime Street, so Costa's profits will start going up!

Used my bite card at the York BK without any problems about two weeks ago.

I also found out the other day I could use it at the KFC at Leeds, I have just got in the habit of asking every station outlet if they take it now.

I just wonder how many Bite cards are used regularly. I don't think I've ever seen anyone else offer one when buying from an SSP outlet.
