down yon end near them suburban platforms - you know the bit the decent trains avoid ;)

You do occasionally get a 180 down there. First time it happened to me I was a bit confused - needed platform 9, walked to platform 8 realised something was wrong, thought about where 9 and 3/4 was in relation to platform 8, walk back to concourse to double check the departure board and try again.

The Starbucks at Kings Cross is definitely franchised as hey dont take the Starbucks Card - whether SSP or other, I'm unsure :)

As an aside - I've seen notices going up at my local station saying that our Pumpkin is to be converted into a Starbucks (which means total loss of discount I think? :( )- is this happening everywhere or is it an isolated change?

They have definitely been gradually converting some Pumpkins into Starbucks as it has greater appeal with the public.

Spoke to a SSP area manager today and they confirmed funding had now been received to continue the O2 Priority offer until 23 January 2015 (it had been due to end last week, and mistakenly wasn't re-added to the app today).

Don't see the reason they are converting Upper Crust to Pumpkin though, I'm likely to buy something nice and fresh at Upper Crust and warmed up, not going to buy the usual pumpkin factory packed Ginsters.

I think Leeds still has one. I've definitely seen one fairly recently I'm sure!

Are you sure you're not thinking of Journey's Friend ?

Haven't seen a Travellers Fare myself for a decade at least. The ones on the platforms of (the old) Ashford station used to do a lovely hot chocolate (If only there were an emoticon for "mmmmmmm").

London, Surrey... bit of a blur round here...

If they're going to change it into a better-known coffee house brand, at least make it one that sells decent coffee... *cough* Costa */cough*

Amusingly, I used my Bite card for the first time in a while the other day in a Pumpkin (I won't say where, but it wasn't one of my usual stations), and only being aware of the change through here (haven't received any emails, and I regularly check my Spam folder as I've lost a couple of important emails that way including ones relating to job interviews, but that's another tale!), decided to 'play dumb' and comment 'Oh, has the discount changed?' when it wasn't the 'expected' 20%. The cashier also seemed surprised that it wasn't the 'full' discount, and they (I won't even say if it's a male or a female) seemed to be about to override it until a colleague explained that it changed 'some time ago'. Ah well.<D

Nero for me, their coffee is so strong you could stand a spoon up in it!

Not Casey Jones burgers, though. Yuck.

I briefly flirted with vegetarianism (for the same reason that many teenage boys flirt with vegetarianism, as a concerted attempt to see the contents of a girl's clothes).

They sold a beanburger as their veggie option.

The lass I was with told me that she couldn't eat it, as it was cooked in animal fats. Along with anything else that had to be fried.

The platform 2 Pumpkin at Stockport converted to Starbucks, late last year I think.

She was not a meat eater then :p

All station bars where BITE cards are valid will remain at 20% discount its the food outlets e.g Upper Crust, Pumpkin Burger King etc that are reducing the discount to 10% from 1st October

I used my Bite yesterday at the Sloe bar at Paddington. Only 10% discount now.

Received a new BITE card in the post. Just what I need a 2nd one
Perhaps I can use both together to 20% off?

"get a mouth-watering 10% off"

I can imagine the conversation in SSP head office ;)

"Nobody's using them anymore, they must have lost them all, let's send them all replacements!"

"What about the fact we removed half the discount?"

"Nah, that can't be it. Send them all another one!"

Perhaps the old ones have got some 20% discounts loaded in them somewhere?

I think recent price rises have compensated (from their point of view) for the 10% discount anyway...

I just got a new Bite card. Not sure why.

If SSP wonders why it doesn't seem that I'm using mine, it isn't because I lost it and need a new one!

It's because I am not using it anymore.

I have a bite card which I must admit I forget to use 50% of the time

but for those complaining about the reduction from 20% to 10% discount try to remember you are still getting a 10% DISCOUNT
if you feel its not worth your while why not use your card and whatever you save in a month throw that into a charity tin

Not good enough for me I'm afraid, particularly on products which are overpriced to begin with.

I shall buy my tea from elsewhere.
