Sorry if this is a bit obvious. I have no alternative but to travel from Wolverhampton to Plymouth on Sunday 6th November. I know it's a replacement bus service to Gloucester. What can I expect when I arrive at New Street? Will it be well signed? Are the buses likely to be crammed full, I'll be catching the 09:30.

Rail replacement services at New Street depart from outside the street-level entrance to TK Maxx on Smallbrook Queens way. There will be signage, but given the size of New Street these can be easy to miss amongst everything else. The 09.30 is likely to consist of 2 or 3 separate coaches, and I'd expect these to be relatively empty at that time.

If you want to avoid the bus you could go the long way round, e.g. -
0939 from Wolverhampton to Reading, arrive 1139
1233 from Reading to Plymouth, arrive 1526

Probably takes much longer and more expensive (I expect you need two separate tickets) - but more civilized if you prefer trains.

Thanks Duffield, but I have to be in Plymouth by about 2:30pm at the latest. I can bear an hour on a bus lol!

Earlier this year I did this the other way round from Gloucester to New Street.
I can report that everything worked very smoothly, in spite of the M5 roadworks and 50mph sped limit.
