Need to travel from Birmingham to Perth on Sun 31st March, prices quoted on trainline are over £100 for the single I require. Not too fussed what time it's at as I have all day but I think the later the better? Would hope to get it at least half that price!

Any help?

Advance tickets always come with mandatory reservations for all reserveable trains. You cannot purchase an Advance ticket without a reservation.

Reservations are currently open up to the following dates:

http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/times_fares/booking_horizons.html

If you purchase a ticket for a date when reservations are not yet open, only tickets that do not require a reservation will be available.

Great info, thanks guys, was exactly what I needed. Just wondered as a friend just booked a train from London for the 28th and got a great deal, now I know why! Cheers!
