Birmingham to Paignton 10th July

Morning,

Trying to find the cheapest fares for 3 family members to go to Paignton on the 10th of July coming back the 15th July. Hopefully be able to book them on HSTs both ways- haven't found anything that is much cheaper than the £95 walk up fare so was wondering if anyone had any bright ideas?

For through tickets, the cheapest options using Advances would work out at £86.10 per person (out on 0942 or 1542, return on 1235 - all these are through trains on Cross Country).

It is worth considering the use of railcards: if all three passengers are adults aged 25 to 60, two of them could travel on a Two Together Railcard: it would save those two just over £32 each, against which needs to be set the £30 cost of the railcard. So clearly worth doing just for this one journey.

If any of the passengers is under 16, a Family & Friends railcard would give slightly greater savings.

And it's worth looking at the Trainsplit website: by using different Advances for different parts of the journey, it reckons it could get the cost down to £66 per person (or around £44 per person with a Railcard), or by buying flexible tickets for Birmingham-Cheltenham and Cheltenham-Paignton it could get the cost down to £78 per person (or around £52 with a railcard).
