Planning a trip from Birmingham to Norwich soon, but some journey planners are sending me in then back out of London for this!

I've also not heard good things about how busy the East Midlands trains to Norwich get either, so wondering what the best options are... or are there better stations to change at, or just do the trip via London?

Travelling off-peak if that helps?

Cheers for any help! :)

Birmingham - Ely on XC.
Ely-Norwich on GA.

OFF Peak will definitely help even should you decide to take EMR which you can get from Peterborough instead of travelling to Ely.

Off peak may help leaving Birmingham - EMR trains are often busier off peak in this area.

@Jacob which day(s) are you travelling?

I don't have the exact dates yet but will be a Monday outgoing from Birmingham and Friday return
Be aware of summer holiday traffic to/from the holiday parks (e.g. Great Yarmouth) which make trains to/from Norwich notably busier on those days.

Thankfully travelling in September, so hopefully not too many people using holiday parks then!
