Birmingham to Leicester

I hold a season ticket for Birmingham to Crewe which states any permitted route. About twice a month I travel Birmingham to Leicester so I was wondering if I could use the season ticket to cover the portion of the journey between BHM and Nuneaton and just buy a ticket to cover the Nuneaton to Leicester part?

I asked the train guard on the Leicester train but he said it wouldn't because there are direct services between BHM and Crewe, but when I looked up the Routeing guide it looks like Crewe to Birmingham via Nuneaton is permitted (Route BP+LC) if I am reading the guide correctly.

Anyone know if I can do this?

Agreed. Crewe - Birmingham is permitted via Nuneaton using maps BP+LC.

So if I board the train to Leicester with my BHM- CRE season ticket I should be able to pay the guard en-route for a ticket from Nuneaton - would this be ok?

Yes, you are valid to Nuneaton so only need to buy a ticket from Nuneaton.

Some guards may not offer the CDR fare because you did not pay before you boarded although providing you ask before Nuneaton that shouldn't be an issue. If you are travelling before 0930 that doesn't apply anyway.
