Birmingham to Glasgow - first time FC

Heading up to Glasgow tomorrow (and then Irvine), for some Commonwealth Games action. Apart from the odd random hop into first class this will be my first proper journey on Virgin FC so just wondering what to expect from it?

Depart New Street at 11:20 tomorrow and return Friday at 4pm from Glasgow.

I know the weekend service is reduced compared to the weekday just wondering if there's anything to do to make sure its a pleasurable journey.
