Birmingham PlusBus - which railcards are valid?

In light of the Birmingham PlusBus recent 75% price hike, I was wondering if of the railcard I have or might get next would qualify for the discount. The Birmingham PlusBus page - https://www.plusbus.info/birmingham - lists the normal (£9.00) and railcard discounted (£5.95) prices but not the valid railcards.

If you head to the main PlusBus page on railcards - https://www.plusbus.info/discounts - it lists quite a few. Some have restrictions called out, eg the Two Together Railcard requiring you to buy 2 tickets together. It includes the normally South-East only Network Railcard in the list, without any mention of limitations:


I can't seem to get any sites to actually sell me a Birmingham PlusBus with a Network Railcard discount, which is what you might expect, but isn't actually what the PlusBus site seems to claim... The list of railcards also doesn't mention any local or regional ones, which I'd have expected might quality in their areas?

So, that leads me to ask here - what is the actual list of railcards that are valid for the discounted PlusBus rate for Birmingham?

You can see which Railcards provide a discount in BR Fares by entering something like Birmingham to Birmingham PlusBus. As you can see in that example it shows the discounted PlusBus fare when you specify a Gold Card, which is what I'd expect because you can use a Gold Card to travel around the Birmingham area on WMT, Chiltern and TfW services - just not Avanti or XC.

The Network Railcard isn't valid north of Northampton or Banbury so that is why it doesn't provide a discount on Birmingham PlusBus. Arguably that restriction should be spelled out but perhaps they thought it would almost go without saying that you need to be getting a Railcard discount on your train ticket to also get the discount on your PlusBus ticket.

Rightly or wrongly, some sites will sell a Network Railcard discounted PlusBus when the ticket is an Advance (which doesn't get a Network Railcard discount)

£9 for a PlusBus ticket? What an absolute ripoff, a daytripper is only £8.90…
