Birmingham NS to Elsenham

G'day there

Just looking up fares for the above routing for early October and can get an advance single for 9.50.

I specified via Audley End as I assumed it would bring up a route Birmingham NS-Audley End-Elsenham, It didn't.

What I got was Birmingham NS-Euston-tube-Tottenham Hale-Audley End-Elsenham. The train from Tottenham Hale to Audley End stops at Elsenham.

So a few questions :
1...Can I get off at Elsenham the first time through?
2...Has BR ticketing gone totally mad.
3...How do I get a Birmingham-Audley End-Elsenham, do I have to specify via Leicester or something like that?

1. Well assuming you've bought a Birmingham NS to Elsenham advance ticket then yes. What do you mean by first time through?

2. BR hasn't been around for some time, now train services are operated by many different companies. However your premise that ticketing has gone mad is correct!

3. Why do you need to go via Audley End?

By first time through I mean the train from Tottenham Hale to Audley End stops at Elsenham then Newport & Audley End where it says i have to change and take a train back to Elsenham.

I don't really want to go to Audley End, but as the train from Birmingham to Stansted Airport stops at Audley End I assumed that would be a logical place to change on to the Elsenham train.

What date is it? Awesome price I say.

I would suggest you just buy a Birmingham NS to Elsenham ticket and don't specify via Audley End as that adds a change to your journey. The itinerary I'm getting from East Coast's website is Birmingham NS to London Euston, then underground to Tottenham Hale before doing Tottenham Hale to Elsenham. That costs £9.50.

Try specifying Ely? Oddly, when I do on the journey planners, it gets you to change trains at Cambridge. However, there will be no difference in travel time- both the XC train from Birmingham and the West Anglia "stopper" services are hourly, and there's no overtaking, so I'd take the Cambridge change over Audley End, as there's rather facilities at Cambridge- both are flat changes. Connection times aren't great- you're looking at forty minutes at Cambridge, and probably fifty minutes at Audley End.

XC Dont Give Advance Fares via Leicester to Elsenham,all advances go via London,the only advances you can get is to audley end for £10
