I came out of the Navigation St entrance at New St over the weekend and the hoarding has rendered photos of New St with a driverless tram.

Anybody know if this is the metro replacement or am I dreaming that the replacement will be this nice?

The builder for the new Midland Metro trams has not yet been decided; the tendering process has reduced the number of bidders down to four or five applicants at the current time.

Therefore the images of the new trams are just generic artists' impressions that aren't intended to represent any particular tram design at this stage (For a start, the images at New Street have display a destination of "Brierley Hill" on the trams!), and they certainly won't be driverless.

Slightly tangential, but does the sign on the M1 for Luton Airport Parkway not have a photo of a Heathrow Express 332 on it?
