Bingham - Radcliffe

When travelling Skegness to Nottingham yesterday, I noticed that on the south side of the tracks between Radcliffe and Bingham some removed rails. These were evident as they were mounted on concrete rafts, and seemed to include an inspection pit. Was this the site of a maintenance depot, can anyone enlighten me?

Wasn't there an experiment with paved track in that area, although I thought that was many years ago.

it was the experimental track. It was in use when I commuted Radcliffe-Nottingham in 1987/8 and must have been lifted some time since

THeres another length south of Duffield in what is now the up line cess.

What a colleague described as "Half a mile of 'Whatever shall we do with this?"

The original very short bit is, I believe still there north of Derby station.
