Getting the Train to Manchester Yesterday morning, I noticed the Single was more expensive than the Return Ticket would be.

I then checked another route I do quite often, and found this:

How can a return possibly be half the price of a single, or is this rip-off Britain at its' best?

you're getting this badly badly wrong- when it says "as singles" it is adding the cost of the singles together- so a single would be £9.20, and the off peak (day?) return is just 10p more than a single (hardly uncommon).

Last time I did maths at School, 2x £9.30, was £18.60, not £18.40, but there You go.

BTW, why is the 10:00 so much more expensive, as it only offers an Anytime fare, on a Sunday Morning, hardly Peak.

Yes...But £9.30 is the Off-Peak Day Return fare, whereas the Anytime Day Single is £9.20.

Because that goes via Doncaster, and is priced by East Coast, whereas the £9.30 fare is priced by Northern and routed "Not Doncaster".

Cheers,

Barry

Your maths may be good, your reading comprehension not quite so? Did you even click on the "as singles" link?
