Better Than Working For a Living

When I was a guard, a commuter said :-

"If you're so intelligent (Who? me?), why do you work for the railway?"

I replied :-

"Define intelligence. You drive to the station, pay to park your car, wait for the train, travel to London, commute across London, do your 8 hours, do the whole thing in reverse...........I just go up and back and down the beach. Who's intelligent?"

What I'm saying is - if any of you are considering a career, it's way better than working for a living.

Of course there are many other jobs too. I started as a ticket checker, then guard and now driver. I could go on to management but I like being outside but inside if you know what I mean.

ill second that, the amount of free time is unbelieveable, i dont like to admit it but i spend most off my time at work reading papers, there is a natural progression starting from the bottom up

And of course - if you can handle shifts, you can go down the beach, shopping etc etc when everybody else is at work.

Trying to shop at weekends is a nightmare when everybody is off.

true enough, long weekend rule, 5 days to chill and do nowt, unless you want a restday(nah)

Like the reasoning!

I'll use that as a response when my mates say 'You like trains so much, why don't you become a train driver?'

Answer 'Yes I will because..(insert reasons Kris metioned here)

Just looked at that page - 4 day week!! Not bad considering the high salary.
