Better names for Old Oak Common

On the other hand Old Oak Common is fine, if a bit long

London Mercury Street has the same amount of syllables as Old Oak Common.

Realistically, there is a fair probability that the Queen will pass away (or abdicate due to frailty) at some point in the next 8 years. If that happens I anticipate another clutch of things named in her honour. Hence we may get a name like Queen Elizabeth Interchange or Queen Elizabeth Gateway.

Please no. That'll just cause more confusion. I can already see the tourist with limited English who ended up in Leeds when they meant to get on the E******* Line.

Another vote here for Old Oak Common. But if it's to be something else, it should be something geographical that used a recognisable and obvious name for where it is - Wormwood Scrubs or North Kensington would be fine. It absolutely shouldn't be named after a piece of railway infrastructure that would be meaningless to the general public, so no North Pole or junction related names. And absolutely not yet another thing named after Elizabeth, there's already more than enough of those.

The problem with naming it Wormwood Scrubs is that the majority of the public will associate it with the prison. That is not good for marketing...

There's been confusion for years with such students wanting Hatfield travelling from London and they get sent to Hertford because of the way they pronounce Hatfield sounds very much like Hertford.

I was trying to think of local landmarks, but given the wikipedia article starts out with "Old Oak Common is an area known for its railway depots" and goes on to talk about Wormwood Scrubs, I'm tapped out for serious suggestions.

This would after all be perfectly consistent with the recent trend to call big new stations in the SouthEast 'X International' even when there are no, or hardly any, international trains serving them

Well, there's Royal Oak a bit further along, so how about Commoners' Oak.

North Kensington- A rather remote area of London with no obvious rail access.

North Kensington is however the name of the area to the east of the West London Line, the proposed station(s) in this area are to the west of this, with the entrance even further away. Given the regular confusion with people trying to get to Kensington High Street ending up at places like South Kensington, I think another 'Kensington' (which is nowhere near the others) would just add confusion with an area that is trying to sound nicer than it is!

The only other name that would sound slightly grander is Park Royal but that is stretching the geographical connection a bit far.

Yes I agree, especially given there is already a station called Park Royal, which is quite a long walk from this one. Saying that, the redevelopment area as a whole is known as "Old Oak and Park Royal."

I wouldn't call zone 2 "right out in the sticks" (!)

If Old Oak Common is unsuitable, how about Old Oak Park (this is the name of one of the major redevelopment sites in the development area). I also like the suggestion made in one of the consultations on the new London Overground stations (though I think that may also have been an error) of Royal Park

There's also the matter that one of the two new proposed Overground stations could be called Old Oak Common Lane
