Has anyone else experienced the 'Goooood Eeevening' man at Leicester Square tube, usually on the Northern Line platforms? I haven't heard him for a while, maybe he's moved on to bingo calling.

Can't find one for Weymouth though I'm sure there is a recording floating around somewhere in the auto announcements forum section.

I'd like to hear more Ruth too, but I can't imagine she'd make a return sadly :(

Attached a Weymouth - recorded at Trowbridge.

Thanks for these! It seems Ruth has definitely got more shouty with age!

Looking through the other recordings, it sounds like some stations have been recorded as being two words; i.e. "Perranwell" and "Perran Well", "Sandplace" and "Sand Place" and sound rather bizarre!

It's worth noting as well that Bynea has been corrected from 'Bunya' to 'Binya' and Penychain has been corrected from 'Penny Chain' to 'Pen-uc-hyne'.

You can also hear really clearly hear where 'PYE CORNURR' has been shoehorned in on the Ebbw Vale Town announcements, in the same way as "GWATE WESTURN RAILWAY".

The ATW 158 announcements are a lot more cohesive as it sounds as if the announcements were all re-recorded for it, even if some are a bit shouty. "The next stop is PorthMADOG!!! Thank you." I wonder if she's currently recording for the class 150s.

She wouldn't need to record for the 150s as they'd use existing announcements (the 158 onboard ones are the same as the station ones, as she misses the end of sentence "Shrewsbury" on the 158s just as she does at stations)

I like the announcements at Fenchurch Street. Still done by person with virtually no automated announcements. I can't remember her name, but one lady has a very distinctive voice. They're always very clear and audible.

Automated systems aren't bad, when there isn't disruption. Otherwise you end up with endless apologies for the delay announcements. As I had at Thorpe Bay the other day.

Bridgend gets so many delay apologies that Ruth and Glyn often interrupt themselves to announce arrivals, making it seem like they're apologizing for train that's just pulled into the station.

Ooh, okay, I didn't know that! I guess the stops announced onboard will use 'end of sentence' for stations that you wouldn't usually hear it for. 'End of sentence' Newtown is verbalised as "New Townnn".

I wonder why GWR didn't just use Anne or Rodger for their new PIS systems - I'm pretty sure the current recordings on the refurbed 150s use the common voice from the Turbos with a second female announcing 'West' stations (in the same sentence). Sounds odd and disjointed.

"Your attention please. We're sorry to announce that the train now approaching platform 1 is the 15:47 Arriva Trains Wales service to MAESTEG! Calling at Wildmill...

The best ones are where she blames other trains for late running.

I wonder why GWR didn't just use Ruth for everything like they did in the West & like ATW do :lol:

Likewise onboard, the GWR CIS voice sounds horrible and I think I've made a post about it in similar threads before.
