Best way to complete Journey (Help ASAP)

Hi all,

Basically tomorrow I need to go from Grimsby to Headingley for lectures at uni. However the 1st lecture is 9-10 and the second one is at 4pm. To waste time I was going to take the train to York and return for lecture and then later back to Grimsby at around 730pm

What's the best way to get the ticket(s) for this trip.

Are you going to be tracelling 5 days per week? How many weeks per year?

A Grimsby-York return £41.50 would appear to allow you to break your journey at Headingley.

You can't double back between stations though. Note Headingley is NOT in the Leeds routeing group.

Edit - the nationalrail planner isn't accepting Leeds as a via point for this journey therefore it appears invalid. Used to be okay though I believe

Grimsby - Doncaster 2 * Advance single £18
Doncaster - Poppleton SDR £17.70
Poppleton - York CDR £3.30

I think the best ticket combination may depend on whether a railcard is held given a £12 minimum fare applies for railcard discounted fares before 10am.

Grimsby - Horsforth SOR plus Horsforth - York CDR with a railcard
Grimsby - Doncaster SVR (valid any time) plus Doncaster - Poppleton SDR and Poppleton - York CDR without the railcard or advances
