Best way from Perth-Liverpool on Sunday April 7th

Hi folks, me and my father are taking a trip to Liverpool on Sunday 7th April this year. I heard the WCML is close from Oxenholme to Preston so I was wondering what would be the best way to travel. My dad works in the railway so we have passes so it dosnt matter on costs. we are looking to be in Liverpool by about 3-4 ish. We will be leaving from Perth station. We were looking at the First Transpenine Express from Newcastle but we are not sure how busy it will be: as you know it can get really busy. We were also looking at taking the train to Glasgow and getting the Virgin to Oxenholme and taking a bus to Preston. We are not very sure. Can anyone please help us ? Thanks in Advance.

It seems like the WCML is only shut until a certain time on the Sunday.

The earliest time anyway on Sunday you can get to Liverpool from Perth would be 1622.

Perth 0916 - Edinburgh arr 1045 dep 1217 arr Wigan North Western 1531 dep 1536 arr Liverpool Lime Street 1622
