Is that without a doubt by any chance?? I think a Class 50 in original NSE along with a rake of non-aircon Mk2s. And large logo Class 37/4 and Highland Stag with 4 blue&grey Mk1s, just magic. WITHOUT A DOUBT, LOL

large logo 37 was nice but agree about meridans i think they looks fantastic. I also liked HST's in intercity exectutive( not sure if thats its name)

The SWT/EMT express liveries seem to suit pretty much everything they get applied to. Though I must say that the 15x with orange doors seem odd (I'm presuming the updated DDA requires all doors to be the same colour?). Also its nice to see they've remembered that painting HST power cars white is a bad idea!

The thread isn't "what is your favourite loco/ unit" or "what is your favourite colour scheme".

The EMT colour scheme is perfectly matched to the Meridians. Sometimes the swooshes/ lines/ curves work on a particular train, but not on others. Compare the Arriva "cow horn" on a square 150 to on a curved 175 front end.

NSE livery worked well on a relatively "square" loco, but would have looked daft on a 37, for example.

Stagecoach seem to have a good approach, since they have different liveries for different classes of train - the white on a Meridian would look odd on a 153, for example.

I think my favourite would have to be something that took the shape of the train into account. The "Z" on HST power cars was a good way of "hiding" the vents, for example.

+1 for Meridians in EMT. Quite like Southern or Southeastern on the Electrostars.

My overall fave was the 158 EXPRESS livery pre-privatisation.

Apple green steam loco, preferably of North Eastern origin, with carmine and cream coaches, preferably mark 1s.

Or, if you want something more recent:
Loadhaul on a class 60 and Intercity Executive on HST Power cars.

There's just so many to choose from!

NSE on 321s, 411s, 421s, 2HAPs, 423s, 442s (IMO the Gatwick Express livery doesn't suit them at all), and 483s (they looked better in NSE livery than in LU red).

The original Regional Railways livery looked good on 31s, 37s, 150s, 153s and 156s.

Regional Express on the 156s as per here, although that unit isn't quite correct - it should have yellow light surrounds, but they'd been replaced with black ones including LEDs and the unit was painted a few weeks later.

Obviously the design of this livery was to make them look similar to 158s, hence the black cab window surrounds and the shape below the side window on the cab

I've always liked Northern Rail's livery, it looks good on Sprinters and suits the rest of Northern Rail's hodgepodge of rolling stock.

I always think that the 142s would look better with dark grey roofs as per the 156/5/3 though, they look a little odd with the light blue.
