Best TOC for a train driver

Hi Guys hope you're all well!
Just wanted an opinion on what everyone thinks is the best TOC for a train driver in terms of working conditions, hours, terms and conditions and of course pay??

(I currently work for Southern)

Also side note: is Eurostar considered the top tier of train driving if not then what is?

How long is a piece of string? A roster that one person hates may be perfect for someone else. Even within a TOC there can be big variations between the work at different depots.

All depends on what you want. If it's raw cash, either GTR, one of the intercity TOCs or Eurostar. If you prefer a fairly intense style of driving, one of the metro TOCs might be preeferable, if you like more time between stops, go for one of the intercity ones.

I'd say company culture is a big one too, some TOCs I believe take a very progressive view towards incidents, some are much more punishment-based. A lot of it might even come down to who your DM is and what they are like.

From the Eurostar driver recruitment thread, I reckon being an "International Train Driver" would take some beating in terms of the things mentioned, especially pay.

EDIT: as another contender I seem to remember London Overground were praised on a previous thread for offering great conditions, benefits and pay albeit for very, very intensive work.

Needless to say, I don't work for either of the above. Sigh. :-0

The best TOC for driving is the one that deposits payment in my bank account every 4 weeks.

You work for GTR on the TL side, right? Are they generally a great bunch of people?
