Is Oyster/contactless accepted? That'll very often give the best option, certainly in the peak (off-peak it sometimes doesn't, as I've noted from a poster on fGW local stations).

How bizarre. I put Clapham Junction to Euston via Willesden Junction into NRE. Not wishing to follow the suggestion of a £9.40 split at WIJ, I clicked on the Travelcard option, expecting it to suggest an Anytime 1-2 for £9 or Off Peak 1-6 for £8.90. It says that two Zone 1-6 Travelcards are required for the journey, at a total of £17.80! If this is the definitive source of information, I'd sooner take my chances with the ticket office!

I couldn't find a fare from Clapham Junction to Euston NR which is possible changing at Willesden Junction on the TfL Fare Finder.

<s>Surely via Willesden Junction is the default £1.60 oyster fare shown at the top of the single fare finder. Although I don't think I'd go that way around unless being very tight.

The obvious routes via the underground all cost more, presumably because the franchised train services through CLJ charge more than TFL for oyster journeys and also because it's tube and train, not just train.<\s>

Some people are terrified of, or simply don't like using the Underground and would do that. I prefer to use over ground services - often when travelling from Euston to Shepherd's Bush, I'd go via Willesden Junction unless I was really in a hurry. All the way to Clapham Junction is a push - I have done it before, but if time was a primary concern, would go via Vauxhall.

I used to travel through Vauxhall in the morning and evening peaks and there was never a queue.

What does get charged when you make an 'undefined' journey on Oyster like Clapham Junction to Euston mainline station via Willesden Junction? Do you get charged an entry and exit fee?

Are you allowed to claim the cost back on the Oyster helpline or are you just expected to have known better that the fare is not defined?

My experience is that you will be charged the correct fare for the journey travelled. I've made several odd journeys where the SFF said no fares found and the live system has always charged correctly depending on modes used and zones travelled through. I've even done a similar one to this example, Paddington LU to Euston NR via Queens Park.

Go to Waterloo and catch a bus (3 routes available!)
