Best sim for route creation and editing?

So I've done the unthinkable and built my first gaming-spec PC in about fifteen years. Decent Ryzen processor, loads of memory and even an RTX gpu. All those years ago I was a fan of creating routes in the Trainz editor which was easy to master, or the horrendously clunky editor in Microsoft Train Simulator which required way more effort than necessary to crank out a few hundred yards of permanent way and scenery.

What works best in 2020? TSW is supposedly due a PC route editor any time now but I can't find any proper footage of what to expect. Ta in advance.

TSW is not due a route editor any time now or at any point in the near future if at all, this was confirmed on their forum in the last couple of weeks.
