Best place to preorder an Accurascale model?

I like the look of the new class 60 model and wondering is there any reason to preorder somewhere other than Accurascale themselves if they have it in stock? I'm looking to preorder 60001 because I think that's the same livery 60006 had in the early 2000s.

Accurascale prices seem to be consistent across whichever retailer takes the stock.
I ordered directly from AS in the past, purely so I guarantee I'd get the item - I didn't want to be a casualty of "retailers under stock" at the time of item's release.

Out of interest - how does Accurascale's 60 compare to that from Cavalex'?

Thanks for the response and I was thinking best to go with Accurascale if they had stock.

I have to admit I don't know anything about the model until I saw an advert for it but I like the previous models and hoping this one is good, it's frustrating once they've done their production run you can mostly only buy the models at hugely inflated prices on ebay.

Early 1990s, certainly, but by the early 2000s 60006 had already passed through a period in British Steel light blue livery and received a coat of Corus silver.

I'm clearly misremembering the livery then I'm sure it was at least grey and had the name Scunthorpe Ironmaster so I guess I've seen pictures of the loco in the original livery and thought that must be it.

I was tempted to change the order to metals however I've noticed they have 37902 in that livery available for preorder so I think I'll go for that to have a combination.

Gained the 'Scunthorpe Ironmaster' name at the same time as it's British Steel blue livery in 1997; as a Construction sector liveried loco prior to that it was 'Great Gable'.

They are very nice locos - I've seen the Accurascale Porterbrook 55 wth light and sound and it runs beautifully.

Thankfully D9000 is out of stock so that's easier to resist temptation

I saw it several times on Virgin sets down to Kent. I had to exert similar self-resistance on the "order" buton

I was surprised to find when looking through an old photo album that there was a picture of me as a five year old with D9000 at Inverness station. It visited in the 80's as the star of an open day so I think I'd have been tempted to give it an order.

I was a bit on the fence about whether to get the 60 with metals livery instead especially in light of the post above pointing out I didn't see the 60 in the railfreight livery however I was excited to notice Accurascale have 37901 in the metals livery so that's possibly another order.

I'm guessing from your comment about the livery that you're intending to renumber the loco? I've occasionally wanted a model with a different running number than supplied (Bachmann's WYPTE 158 for example) and as I'm pretty hopeless at doing fine transfers I order from TMC of Whitby as they offer a renumbering service. This isn't particularly cheap, but they do a very good job. Their custom weathering is pretty good too.

The idea was at the back of my mind that it would likely be easier if I wanted to change the number in future but given it turns out I didn't see the loco in that livery nor did it carry the name in that livery I'll just need to settle with 60001
