My friend needs to make eight day trips (out and back on the same day) from Exeter to Newbury on Wednesdays over the next eight weeks.
She can be in Newbury at any time of day, so long as she is there for at least a couple of hours each time; the time she is in Newbury does not need to be the same each week.
She holds a 16-25 Railcard.
Her approximate upper limit for journey times seems to be about two hours each way, as she has rejected suggestions to use SWR Advances via Basingstoke and Reading, or to travel to Andover and then take advantage of the £2 bus.
Given these constraints, are there any options which beat the £38 combination of Off-Peak Returns splitting at Taunton and Castle Cary?
