Personally I think VTWC Silver works equally as well as the original livery

I think I agree with you there...the APT original livery was fascinating, purely because it managed to have many different colours on it and still look grey.

I’m not very familiar with the Woodhead electrics, so happy to be put right, seen pics and on you tube simulator videos, and they look good locos, interesting if not exactly beautiful, would love to have travelled behind them, but little bit before my bashing days, I like the look of them, have a certain look and style, happy to learn more about them.

The "Freight Connection" DB, SNCF and SNCB 90s looked really good. Never really took to RES livery myself, the weird logo/pattern thing on the bodysides looked out-of-date as soon as it appeared.

Electra is preserved (that's her at Butterley in my avatar) but they run on 1500V DC, so there's nowhere for them at the moment.

Though I would add a 91 for modern electric.

The 91 has never looked as good as it did in Intercity Swallow, particularly the treatment of the cab area.

I agree, the 91 is absolutely stunning! However, one thing I never understood was how different and almost ugly Mk4 DVT is, it's meant to be based on the 91 bodyshell but to me it just looks like a mangled 91.

Steam: pretty much anything by Sir Nigel Gresley

The GWR railcars (steam, like preserved 93, and diesel, like preserved 22 for example.)

Many of the 50's/60's DMU'S and EMU'S, but in particular the 101's, 303's, 124's.

Class 47's, especially in two-tone green or large-logo blue.

Most other locos in same two colour-schemes.

HST's, especially in original blue and grey.

Class 170 Turbostars

Anything GNER

Anything Northern Spirit (not everyone's cup of tea I know!)

I'm currently waiting for ultra modern stuff to grow on me, but think I like 68's

My favourite train to look at is a class 37 with the split headcode boxes and large BR logo livery, it's always looked great to me and just looks right.

The prettiest train to look at would be the Class 91 in Intercity swallow livery as the sleek look of that livery just fits perfectly with the design of the 91.

Classic: Deltics, Mallards, all the old majestic looking steam trains.

I like the 380s unconventional ugly ducking look as well. It’s an odd thing, Shame they’re only on the Scotrail network.
