On a VTWC service for Lime St, I had already had 2 glasses of wine. Already being tipsy and struggling to finish my third glass, I had just about given up when the host came round once more and offered to top up my glass and then insisted on pouring me another full glass as he "won't have another chance to pop round". I left the train in Lime St having had 5 glasses of wine, with 2 in the last 30 minutes, and I fit right in with the locals.
Another time I was sat in the vestibule floor in standard class, and when the train manager walked past he was very insistent I move into first, despite standard not even being 100% full.
The ultimate best experience in first class for myself would have to be ATW's Premier Service (business class now?)- nothing special happened on my few trips with them but the seats are most comfortable, the service most excellent and the food from the proper on-board chef most enjoyable.
