Best Day ticket for Cardiff?

Hi i am standing the day bashing Trains in Cardiff on the 25th, My main aim is Arriva's Class 142s and 143s, So what Ticket do people think would be best to buy?

There's a Valley Lines Day Explorer ticket at £11 (no railcard discounts).
Includes Stagecoach buses to valley-hop if you want (eg Merthyr-Rhymney-Ebbw Vale-Abergavenny (X4) via Heads of the Valleys).
Not valid before 0915 M-F.

Available to purchase on-line from GWR as well, if you want to avoid confusing the ticket seller in your local ticket office

I use this ticket regularly and the 9.15 restriction only applies to trains - it is valid all day on Stagecoach South Wales buses. However bus drivers may struggle to issue one and I have had occasional acceptance hassles. They aren't much used on trains and even less on buses. I buy the previous day from a station if I want to start with a bus journey.

Recently a driver insisted it wasn't valid and phoned his control to check ... result apology but he said he'd been driving buses for years and had never seen one before.

If you're doing the Valley lines the bus availability is particularly useful between Merthyr Tydfil and Rhymney or Aberdare (frequent buses) and to get to somewhere like Ebbw Vale or Treherbert from Cardiff to catch the first train after 9.15am.

I've used this ticket and also found some bus drivers didn't recognise it. The Stagecoach 'Tickets to Go' leaflet includes it and it would be useful to carry one. They sent me one after I emailed them or I'm sure it would be available from their enquiry offices.

Do Stagecoach have en enquiry office in Cardiff? I can't think of one offhand. Cardiff Bus have an office on Wood St across the road from Central Station, but I can't remember if they carry Stagecoach timetables/leaflets.

Not sure that Wood Street office has been open for a while, has it? The only sales presence I saw advertised when in the city last month was a small Cardiff Bus counter inside the central library.

The only tourist information centre also now appears to be at the Millennium Centre in Cardiff Bay, with limited public transport information, so where one gets timetable details for the likes of Stagecoach in person, goodness only knows. Rather poor for the capital of Wales, I thought.

I won't pretend my information is up to date, as I moved away from Cardiff just over two years ago. However, now that you mention it, I may have noted Stagecoach timetable leaflets at the central library when I went there with some other public transport enquiries.
