Used lebara earlier this year and smarty now and both are pretty bad and so is the on-board wifi.

Lebara uses Vodaphone
Smarty uses Three
EE & O2 are the other service providers, so try someone who uses one of these. I had good coverage with EE on the WCML but not this precise part.

Nothing works between Rugby and Coventry
On-board wi-fi is still dependent on mobile data to a large extent and so it is not going to be miraculously better. This surprises many.
Tangential but on my way down from Crewe the other day I loved the absence of TikTok videos being blasted. People were doing crosswords and reading books!
Maybe some things don't need fixing
(Can confirm Vodafone coverage was terrible)
