Bescott Crane & Breakdown train at Newport Alexandra Docks?

Hi,

Does anyone know why the Bescot breakdown train - comprising crane and (I think!) three yellow mark 1 carriages - was at Newport Alexandra Docks sidings today?

It was there this morning, and it looks like it is now coupled behind 66064(?) for the return trip.

I believe there were some troublesome trucks (or one in the singular) in the yard yesterday.

It seems since around the new year there are a lot of MFA, MTA and other small types around, but they look like they're long-term stored? They typical wagons I see there are cargowagons, covered steel BRA / BYA and HTAs, with some container flats occasionally too. Unless they derailed on the trap points maybe? But maintenance wise, I'd expect the wagons not to be at fault.

The appearance of the Bescot crane is even more surprising, given the runaway / derailment that occurred about 6 months ago, at the Cardiff end of the yard. Off the top of my head, an ex-departmental fish-type wagon of some denomination broke free and hit the buffers under the bridge (where the locos used to stable), and nearly ended up in the river! All I ever saw there were the ubiquitous orange-suited PW gang, who put a few "Stop" boards in place, and then about 3 weeks later the wagon went overnight, midweek. Without the crane!
