Off on a Rail trip shortly (arriving on a Friday morning) from Swindon to Belfast and travelling via Liverpool this time, returning Sail rail via Cairnryan & Ayr. I fancy getting breakfast early in Belfast but the ferry arrives 6.30am!
1. Is there a bus to central Belfast/Gt Victoria St for onward travel?
2. Any recommended breakfast in Central Belfast early to pass time until a more civilized hour?

I've got a bus from Belfast to the ferry terminal so there are buses back into town, no idea how frequent they are though, they are a commercial route so check the online journey planners.

As for Breakfast there was a Wetherspoon which did a good Ulster Fry which was lovely and also cheap, no idea on opening times though I'm afraid.

Metro 96 leaves the Stena terminal at 07:05 and gets you to Donegall Place approximately 20 minutes later.

For breakfast, you could go to MacDougall's or Burglar King if you're feeling masochistic.

There is Brights on the High Street (5 mins walk from Donegall Pl) and Blinkers on Bridge Street (close to Brights) but I don't think they open until 09:00 and it's the wrong direction.

A safe choice would be The Streat. There's actually one on Great Victoria Street which is open from 07:00 and another branch on Wellington Place (en route from Donegall Place to GVS) that opens at 07:30. You'll get a fry there for the right side of a fiver or you can go large for 6 quid.

Would recommend blinkers or if you're willing to venture out to the botanic area then Maggie Kay's bumper fry is an absolute must. I myself have a breakfast meeting at the mad hatters cafe on the lisburn road in the morning!

Just in case anyone gets confused, there are two Stena passenger terminals in Belfast - the Cairnryan one and the Liverpool one. Both are on the same road but the Cairnryan one is further from the city centre. So the bus starts at the Cairnryan terminal where it has a stop right outside the terminal building. If getting the bus from the Liverpool terminal you need to go out to the bus stop on the main road.
