This is just a hypothetical question.

Can you be sitting in multiple train driver talent pools for different TOCs at the same time?

If so, were you to accept a course place from one of the TOCs, will the others know you have accepted a job and remove you from their talent pool?

Further more, say the TOC course place you accepted was not with your preferred TOC, you start the course and then your first choice TOC offers you a place, what happens then?
Are you able to leave and start afresh with the other TOC?

Don't suppose anyone has any first hand experience of this happening?

No.

I should expect it’d just be like starting any other job and leaving within a short timeframe, but I’ll let others advise.

1. Yes
2. No
3. Thats your decision but might be unfair to other canidates, would you be happy if you were left in a pool in favour of someone who bailed after week 3 ?

Nothing on paper to stop you doing it, but it would raise a question with the preferred TOC as to why you were really leaving. People can be and are sacked for various reasons during training and that would seem a more likely scenario than someone leaving because they prefer a different company.

Once you’re in probably easiest just to stick to that course, get a key and then move as a qualified driver after a couple of years.

You may have to sign something saying that if you left within a certain period of time, you would be liable for any training costs incurred.
