Beer train

I'm sure many of you will know of and experienced the wonder that is the Whitby Beer train (19.15 departure) during the summer months where they crack a barrell to the back of the train and have a band playing in the carriage.

Just wondering if there are any routes out there that have this regular very enjoyable journey?

Penistone Line (Hudds to Sheff and back) have various music specials with beer.

Edale to Manchester has a folk train, do not think it has the beer though?

The Newcastle - Manchester Airport train that departed at stupid o'clock in the morning was a good beer train Well i always ahd a few beers before getting that one - that must have been a grim service to work on!

Ah yes. The wonder of the ten past two. Roll out of Stone Love (a lot easier once they had moved it to digital) on a Thurs night, pizza, and then try and get to the platform in time for the train. Uni the following morning. Don't think it runs any more. It's not the same being on the 22.40 (I think) Pacer to Boro. They move too much when you're drunk.

Done the folk train to Edale. Wasn't any beer when I was on it. Also. Never get off at Grindleford and walk to Edale. It's a lot further than you think. Especially if you stop for lunch at Robin Hood's in Hathersage.

Edale to Hathersage is good, villages on the route then into the Robin Hood and you can just wait around for the train from Hathersage just after closing (convenient or what?) and the band will then get on when it arrives at Edale. As for not walking afterwards, definitely if you have one of their steaks... I miss that place

I got the folk train accidentally when it was my connection from Sheffield to Manchester, and there was no beer back then.

Last one out of Newcaslte to Darlo now is 2243 during the week and 2150 on a Saturday - cant have a decent night out anymore!
Have done the first one in the morning back home before to - not good half drunk/half hungover! (0430 i think!)

Not steak. Steak and kidney pie. Well actually. Steak and kidney and graby in a massive bowl. With a wedge of suet pastry dipped into it. Covered completely in chips. Is it any wonder that we struggled thereafter.

Are we calling the Sprinters that operate these services heritage now? Come on, they're not that old!

Some of these live music trains must involve Pacers from time to time, or even quite regularly looking at the routes they operate on-That's got to be fun, competing with both the noise and the bounce of a Pacer!
