Quite how totally random statements demonstrate to a prospective employer whether the candidate is sane or not is beyond me. Even a serial killer like me passed 'em

What happens if you have applications to other jobs that you require that test for submitted already? Will they fail too and have to wait 6 months, or will you get a chance with those?

Thanks I don't really know what happens, but I don't have any other applications anyway.

To be honest I think it's for the best, as I have stuff on this year that would be really hard to get out of. I'm going to leave it till the end of the year then start again.

I'm happy that I at least know that it's possible for me to pass the application form stage

I have also received the failure email as well. However on another note I do have one outstanding job application with TPE and also a firm offer with Metrolink. All is not lost for me.....

I got through to the next stage which is another shortlisting exercise...that is where my application will no doubt come to an end.

I received emails for both the Leeds and Manchester Trainee roles....

Leeds: With regret you came up short on the DSI test....

Manchester: We're pleased to tell you.....

So I passed on one an failed on another! There's two possibilities for this IMO,
1. The tests are scored differently for each depot
2. I didn't answer both tests with the same answer (of which I was certain I had!)

Anyway I'll be hearing back in the next 4 weeks so fingers crossed and positive thinking! Plus LOADS of revision and practice testing!

Well, I failed the DSI too..

Are we allowed to post samples of this test?

I don't know if I could have (honestly) answered the questions any different..

I would have been an inconsiderate, daydreamer who rushed everything and cry's a lot.. (hang on a minute is that really me?)

I think the frustrating thing is that there's not supposed to be a right or wrong answer, did anybody pick up on a trick question?

Is the test time orientated?
I probably did mine too quickly to prove the above point, and now I'm crying.. (if only I could take the test here and now) I might pass!!

There was one question which I couldn't figure out. It was something like: 'Do you like to rush and get things done'.

This is a difficult one because 'rushing to get things done' (or 'keeping to the timetable' in the recruiters eyes) could potentially be quality they are looking for in a trainee driver.

Yep, I too have had the email stating that I've passed the DSI test. Without sounding like a smug one, I didn't even have to take the test for the current role of trainee driver, as I'd only just taken the very same test for station team leader at Man Vic.

still waiting...........but still smiling. I'm grateful to have come this far in the process.

Still got the Man Pic & Vic Conductors outstanding, so again i'm hopeful that having waited this long, that I might just be within a chance.

For me the answers I submitted wouldn't change.. I presume that's the point of the test - if square peg round hole !!

The above Q's should be common knowledge to most people who have searched the web..

I've tried searching google and trying to jog my mind about the 18 questions but it's a complete blank.
Many firms use this test i.e. Virgin Atlantic, Northern Rock, G4S. I can go on. Has anyone got the complete list yet?
I think there should be 'either' as well as 'neither'.

The key to this test is consistancy.

Several similar but differently worded statements seem to be asked twice during the test.

The idea is to give a similar answer to both those questions.

DSI, although I consider it a ridiculous and pointless test, is considered by Northern to be a valuable tool to establish whether or not a candidate is consistant in their answers.
