Bedford turntable

I heard a while back nobody had pics of the Bedford turntable.

I have an aerial pic sent to me by someone on Facebook dated 1929.

Seems sidings went into gas works, didn't know that.

Born and brought up in Bedford I remember it well. Bunked Bedford shed many times although the same Locos were there year after year with the occasional visit by something special, often due to a failure . Thanks for the picture.

What year was it decommissioned? The foundation is still present if you can fi d it under the trees. Tried to access it once but found tents in the trees with people living in them so left without a close up.

I left Bedford when I was 16, over 50 years ago, so I can't help as to anything after the early 1960s. When I have been through on a train in the past few years I hardly recognise anything that I see. As to Bedford St Johns don't start me off.
