Bed bugs Paris

So it’s in cinemas airports and trains. Does this mean planes or Eurostar isn’t safe? Could it arrive in London or spread round the world? Or will this be a minor issue we don’t hear about.

Bedbugs in Paris a new thing? I think not, for those of us staying in 1 star hotels near the Gare du Nord in the 1970s and 1980s, they were as much part of the scenery as cockroaches and armies of Metro rats waiting for the last train to leave before taking over the platforms. As I've not been there these past thirty years, I've no idea of the current situation. Of course, there wasn't a Channel Tunnel then to complicate matters.

So I decided to cancel my Paris trip but these Eurostars go to Paris so I’m unsure if Belgium is safe not sure how well cleaned Eurostar is. No idea if this will stay a Paris only issue?

It's really just a storm in a teacup. I spent a few days in Paris/France this week including travel on plenty of trains, buses and staying in a couple of hotels. I didn't see a single bed bug.

By that logic you should stay away from London as Eurostars go there too. And probably the rest of the UK too, as trains run from London to the rest of the country...

Yep I was in Paris/France last week as well using hotels and trains. No sign of bed bugs for me either!

Bedbugs have been infesting the UK for many years.

Currently traveling back to the UK after spending the night at the Novatel hotel in the La Defense area of Paris. I can't feel anything but wife says I have what looks like a bite on my back. Has paranoia set in?

So I guess nobody has spotted them on Eurostar? I know during Covid they had extra cleaning methods I could contact them to see what they are doing to improve cleaning? I am hoping Brussels remains a safe route

I seriously think you're over thinking this. Paris remains a safe city and Eurostar remains a safe means of travel between London and the Continent.

Sorry if this sounds a little harsh, but please quit reading rubbish on the net. As stated before there have been bedbugs for as long as there have been beds. There have been a few more this autumn in Europe because of the rather warm temperatures. If you're very unlucky and run into some, you will get a handful if bites, like mosquito bites. It's not ebola. Clothes in the wash as usual, and they won't eat your phone.

They're tiny. You aren't going to spot them sat next to you on a train.

You get bugs in trains. It happens. I've lost track of the number of British trains I've reported for having flea infestations, flies in the driving cabs etc over the years. The depots seal them up and bug bomb them and send them straight back out again.

I’ve heard stories of people going to hotels and throwing away all there stuff. I can only go on what I’ve heard. I assume it means more than seeing one I assume it’s if you have bites or they are on a suitcase.

Well bed bugs would never make a home on anything hard like a phone. And if they were on your clothes, a hot wash cycle would kill them off. It's really nothing to be concerned about.
