Hello,

Question on behalf of an old friend who has recently returned to England after 8 years in Spain.

He has a 30 year career with BR and successor companies in signalling points track etc.

He has expired Sentinel (PTS), PICOW, person working alone etc etc cards.

Is there any way that he can renew some of these privately, in order to stand a better chance when applying for jobs etc.

From my own experience of working in the industry (several years ago) I know that one had to be sponsored by a LinkUp registered company. But maybe things have changed?

Hello,

I know that at advance-TRS we will pay for courses to be undertaken if you are successful in getting a job on the track. For this reason I don't believe you're at a disadvantage when applying without these certifications. If you call our office, a consultant will be able to tell you more! Our number is 01483 361061.

I hope your friend gets back on the track in no time! :D

Thanks for the response. Do you have any live roles in S&T at present in either London/the Midlands?

Best regards

We currently have a signalling mentorship programme aimed at MOD5 and 3BL testers but the person you'd need to speak to is away this week. We don't usually advertise general track work so if that's what you're looking for it's best to ring.

Because of the gap in UK work it might be best to speak to a specialist who could best advise your friend on where to start. He should e-mail Andy on ar@advance-trs.com with his CV and he'll see what he can do.
