Becoming a Timetabler

At a slight tangent, I have noticed a recent NR advert for operational planner(s?) and related more senior roles at Swindon.

I thought they did all that sort of thing from Milton Keynes (having centralised there some years back and lost a number of experienced staff who didn't want to move house.)

Is there a new policy happening? Are they likely to be setting up more decentralised offices? (Or is my understanding it had all been centralised at MK less than correct?)

Timetable integration teams I suspect, arguably it isnt planning anything, it is more the readiness to actually deliver timetable changes rather than the timetable itself.

I have been offered (subject to references and all that sort of thing, which I am not expecting to be an issue) a role as Operational Planner at Milton Keynes.

Anyone know anything about the 'Putting Passengers First' thing? This seems to suggest that at least some head office roles are going to get moved to regions.

Is this going to involve the Operational Planner roles? And if so, is this going to be a case of re-arranging the teams / desks within the office at MK, or are people going to have to re-locate?

Taking the job in MK is going to mean moving house one way or another, but I'm not keen on the idea of possibly having to move again in a short time (and it would depend on where they would want to move me to whether I'd even want to do it. I assume that new people would get the least choice where to go if that happened.)

I've not been told anything about what particular team / section I might get attached to, or is it the sort of arrangement where (to borrow an army term or two) you don't get posted until after basic training?

Nah, you definetly don't need to worry about moving house.
