We've had a thread on here before commemorating the best looking buses, so I thought we could have one on the best looking coaches (apologies if this has been done before) as coaches often look more striking and elegant than buses.

Here are my top three, in no particular order:

Ditto for me, though with 1970s ones. I still have a hatred for Panorama Elite's and Duple Dominants...

Though Supremes were usually OK as they tended to be B10Ms or Leopards so tended to shift!

If it was on the Stroud running day then I was there too - can't remember what with though, might have been our FDV. Funny that within the space of 3 years, it now lives down here in Hampshire with closer connections too! :lol:

Oh it would have been without a doubt. (04 July 2010 according to camera). I've probably got a similar photo of it somewhere (Michinhampton is a great place for photos!). It is worth bearing in mind that this vehicle, unlike the others which the group owns, doesn't really have any connections to the local area.

Edit: The photo you've linked to was a private run upon completion of restoration, but first public run was the running day a month later that we both referenced.

Oh I know. What I meant was it's now down here in Hampshire having been sold to the Hampshire Bus Preservation. And what a Lovely lovely thing it is! (well, except when it's 'marking it's spot' with the odd oild rip every now and again).

Unlike others I do like the Duple Dominant range of the 1970s/80s. As well as travelling on school trips I learnt on a Dominant 1 and passed my PSV and drove many Dominant IVs, all Bedford powered with the characteristic of cutting out at junctions after being driven hard. The Plaxton Paramounts were too barrel shaped for my taste and while the matching front and rear windows were a good idea they didn't help the look.

My favourites were the Neoplan Skyliner. A few tweaks along the way but a design from over forty years ago that still looks good. Another bodywork which does not look dated is the Van Hool Alizee in production 1979 - 1999.
