Thank you, I can't say I have ever noticed political bias on the BBC, but then again, I don't make a point of watching the parties conferences! Maybe I will in future - or maybe I'll stick with Radio 1!

I certianly don't want to see the BBC suppressing news - that is plain ridiculous. Political bias will be very hard to get rid of, though can be reduced, as every director and producer puts their own slant on the program, sometimes without intending to.

The blog you provided makes very interesting reading - I certianly will subscribe!

I don't think eccessive cover of climate change makes the BBC bias. That is science, not politics.
Anti Israel? Anti US? Can't say I've noticed it.

I think there is one important distinction. The news and political programs like the conferences should be impartial, but is there really any need for the rest of the programming? Impartial "Traffic Cops" would be interesting, they should cover more paperwork on it and less driving.

There is also nothing wrong with showing ethnic minorities - and indeed I think it is quite obnoxious to think that the BBC place ethnic minorities in programs to be PC.

I think climate change has been quite politicized there are after all more important envermontal issues that could be covered ie deforestation of the worlds rainforests and damige to corral reefs

I agree with you that ethnic minority's should be on TV but only in programs (Dramas) based in where you would find ethnic minorities eg London, Birmingham, Bradford etc not in places which are in real life predominately white eg Devan, Scottish highlands, Anglesey etc obviously having ethnic minority Presenters or newsreaders is no issue or problem

Of course the BBC is not Communist TV but it does tend to favor the more younger cosmopolitan kind of audience, when a huge diversity of different types of people pay the licence fee

The BBC, in my opinion caters for all. It has Radio 1, for the "young, cosmopolitians", Radio 4 for the "oldies" :) Same with TV - BBC 3 & BBC 4.

I don't think Swift Deere was complaining that the Browns Broadcasting Corp' shows ethnic minorities, i think it was more to do with the disproportionate inclusion of them in certain programmes where there would not normally be as much representation. For Instance a true to life programme set in a sleepy country village.

Going back to what OT said about Birmingham after 9/11 and 7/7, I can unfortunately agree with that too. In fact, some parts of Birmingham (particulary Alum Rock and Handsworth) are unofficially no white zones after dark due to the prejudice that exists towards the white community in those areas.

Immigration is a good thing as long as it equals emigration from the UK, the immigrant applicants that arrive MUST have professional qualifications and will be of benefit to the UK. NOT THE ILLEGAL ASYLUM SEEKING people awaiting across the English Channel in Calais who will be a total drain to UK services and finances.
All well and good but can you please confirm that your Viking, Anglo Saxon and Roman ancestors were all professionals please? Thanks. (Or do you claim to be 100% ancient Briton? in which case I do not believe you :p)
Despite peoples views about the BNP, they have to be allowed a place in Democracy because if not, we may as well be be a dictatorship nation....
Yep, we must allow dictators because otherwise we'd be run by dictators.

In some ways, allowing skilled immigrants in is a bad thing, as they make it difficult for our university graduates to find suitable jobs. Really, we need immigrants to do the menial tasks even our unskilled won't touch.

What we really need is a government with enough balls to stop the indiginous spongers of our hard earned tax us normal folk are forced to pay so they are forced to get a job however meanial it may be rather than sit on their arses drinking and smoking and watching Jeremy Kyle all day, and at the same time they should stop wholesale immigration of people who come into the country and sponge off our hard earned tax us normal folk are forced to pay.

The soft touch for both sets of these people should stop now!

Oldtimer. I have been reading the UKForum pages for a long time and been following this particular thread and been trying very hard not to respond to your politically biased comments. You are stuck in a single-minded political colour and obvioulsy detest anyone who doesn't follow your leanings. It would be nice if you could reply to your fellow posters without pushing your political agenda time after time. We are not all brain-washed right wingers and don't need to be brain washed into your own politcal stand. We can think for ourselves. I read all the posts and agree or disagree as I find them but your posts are the only ones that really make me angree, due to your constant Party Political Broadcasts on behalf of your chosen political party. As an 'Old Timer' you should know better.
