I certainly remember the BBC giving plenty of air time to the IEA response to the HS2 proposals written by that total ultra right wing fruit cake Mr R Wellings and colleague. I do not recall anywhere near as much air time being given to a the consultation response from the Institution of Civil Engineers, a far more respected body, just three days later which sensibly gives support to the project. I wonder why the disparity in reporting if not bias?

Incidentally, if anyone takes exception to me labelling Wellings a Fruit Cake, perhaps you should take some time to read some of his spoutings on numerous subjects involving public expenditure under the banner of the IEA - you may just agree with me after. If not, well we're all entitled to our opinion I suppose. Read the one about his recent views on defence spending.

£1000 extra per taxpayer for a line that less than 25% of taxpayers will use hardly seems like a good investment.

Eh? Most of the money I pay in tax isn't spent on me. How stupid to think it would!

I'm not making any judgement on the IEA's proposals. Simply making the point that the BBC is reporting a story and not offering its own opinion.

I think what Jimmy started the thread with, meant he's only seen negative reports from the Beeb and no positive opinions.

Hence the point about only seeing negative and therefore not being unbiased.
The Beeb would report both for and against as in other issues they report.

Hope I read this all correctly as I am completely unbiased on this one to be honest.

If HS2 went via the new Media City, I wonder how the BBC would view it then - offering a quick way for relocated staff to come back to London!

The lack of positive HS2 stories is down to HS2 supporters not using the media properly, opponents. Supporters should make sure that on a quiet news day something positive is put into the ether - even holding back on busy days to make sure this happens.
