Very nostalgic and balanced report - some old faces there including Gerry Fiennes, Sid Weighell and Richard Marsh. I liked some of the BR managers valiantly trying to defend the party line, like we have all have had to do at some point in our careers!

Richard Marsh, of course, was poacher turned gamekeeper (or is it the other way round) - denying investment when he was Minister of Transport but making a case for it as BR Chairman.

I really liked that they made it for a questioning and thinking audience. It has been ages since I saw something like this new from the Beeb.

The other thing that impressed me was that the people interviewed actually had something interesting to say which delved down into how their business works. Today's interviewees from the business world, with one or two exceptions like Michael O'Leary, are often too worried to say anything beyond a pre-prepared sound-bite.
