Bay Platforms at York

Yeah, it's a slightly strange one which doesn't appear permitted in the routing guide, but even though the services aren't normally advertised as Leeds - York for the benefit of normal, since the actually are through services, they become valid since there's no reversal..... or something like that. It's been a while since I went into it!

I can remember one day doing it when I was younger (and not knowing about ticket validities back then) and it was accepted, although I think he gave me the look that said "Silly sod has got on the wrong train". Still it was a nice journey on a 144, and I'd never travelled the route.

Its a direct train. York - Leeds tickets are valid!

It's a far more scenic route, although I didn't know about the direct trains always being valid rule and presumed as it's a fair bit longer that it wouldn't be allowed on a York - Leeds ticket.

Well, both 142094 and I have done it on normal tickets without being slung off, so I think it probably is valid. It's not ridiculously further either, 39 miles instead of 25.5.

It is perfectly valid route - a fair number of people used to travel this route from Leeds to Knareresboro on the 37s then unit forward to York a few years ago. I think the main reason Leeds annouces them as services to Poppleton and York as Harrogate and going forward to ....and Burley Park is because the vast majority of passengrs would not appreciate a journey with 12 stops that takes three times as long as a direct/fast service.
