Basic layout signals.

Would anyone please be able identify where and what kind of signals should go on my layout for an early 60s era? sorry it's non digital, I usually run a passenger train anti clockwise on the inner loop and freight on the outer going off the loop down to the shed etc if this helps? Thank you sorry new to modeling etc.

Depicting the 60s you could have either colour lights or semaphores, even a mixture as many mechanical signal boxes had odd semaphores replaced with colour lights but still operated from the levers with electrical switches attached. Distant semaphores were often the first to be replaced as they had the longest wires and thus were the heaviest for the signalman to pull.

You haven't shown a signal box - A good site for that would be next to the level crossing on the main line, so the signalman could operate the barriers or gates.

I couldn't decipher the writing on the object next to the spur off the inner track - is that another platform?

Yeah sorry that writing is meant to say loading bay, yeah I think I'll go with mainly semaphore signals. Thanks for the idea of where to locate the signal box I'll definetly be placing it next to the crossing thank you.
