The BART system in San Francisco has its first ever (unauthorised admittedly) video showing what its train operators see as they run through the systems tunnels, stations and the many elevated sections.
The video has been acclaimed for its top-notch production and cinematic quality and it was premiered at the Roxie cinema in San Francisco just over a week ago.
The acclaimed film shows a trip from SF International Airport to Pittsburg Bay Point, nearly 90 minutes of ride through (or beneath) San Francisco, Oakland, Concord etc, including the deep tunnels known as the Transbay Tube and the junctions/flyovers at International Airport and Oakland. Evidently much of the open air sections runs between the freeways however there are some scenic stretches too.
Its only a few months since BART was celebrating its 50th Anniversary so this video comes in a bit late - nevertheless its pretty relevant how the commentary (aka subtitles/captions) covers the system's history, infrastructure and present problems etc.
Tunnel Vision: An Unauthorized BART Ride.
The video is so impressive that I covered it in a blog post!
BART – Train operator’s view.
BART has so far given the film a thumbs up but stress the method employed for the filming isn't to their liking and should not be used again (and of course people in the Youtube comments have discussed the merits of using such a method.)
