Im sure he was already aware of this thread, though i can imagine more than one member of this forum let him know.
What i can't understand is how a top rail reporter let it get this far.

Let what get how far?
Unless he has blatantly lied to me, he was not quoting any post from this thread. The post he was quoting was from someone who admitted to working for EC. Now it is strange how the 2 posts have a couple of sentences that are exactly the same, but it was not this thread Barry looked at when he made that quote in his column.

I emailed him and told him he had made a mistake with his quote of the post, and that it wasnt on about EC. He seemed surprised and asked if we were on about the same forum. When he saw BestWesterns full post, he said that, that was not the post he had seen. The post he saw definitely mentioned EC in it.

I somehow doubt he would quote something in his column unless the post definitely mentioned EC. So im believing him.

For one, it does seem likely that EC were alerting their catering staff, because on more than one occasion he seems to have been given more food than EC allow.

Wonder if someone misquoted BestWestern's comment (a bit like Chinese whispers) on another forum which was then picked up by Barry Doe.

As you've spoke to Mr Doe, is he at all bothered with all this hassle his mis-reporting has caused.
Was he made to say sorry to readers and forum readers?.
How was a well respected rail journalist dupped into thinking he would get normal treatment from EC.
What have EC said about this?
