Barrow Hill Roundhouse

Hi, I am thinking about heading up to Barrow Hill one weekend to take a few pictures when the site is a little quieter than it is when I usually visit during the Rail Ale Beer Festival.

Has anyone been up at a weekend when there are no events on? What access do you get around the site? When its the Rail Ale event the access to locos is pretty much non existant, especially the DRS and stored locos over the hill? I can't imagine it being very busy so some good photos are for the taking if you can get the access.

Of what I am aware, access is the same as at an event but if you do cross a barrier, there is noone about to shout at you and we met some staff/ volounteers (whichever they are) and they were quite happy for us to be there.

I have only visited on the Rail Ale festival and most of the yard is closed off, as you would expect, they dont want drunks all over the locos, but on rail related days I have seen people all over the yard, up the banks and everywhere.

I e mailed Barrow Hill but have not had anything back.
