Barriers at Durham station

Apologies if this has been covered before, I got off a train at Durham for the first time in years last weekend and the barriers had gone.
Anyone know when they were removed?
They were always one of the strictest stations for having the barriers on and manned

Quite a few of the VTEC-managed stations had their barriers removed during 2017. Two examples from my own experience are Grantham and Newark North Gate. I don't know the reason for it unfortunately.

They were taken out about a year ago, along with the ones at Newark North Gate and Grantham. See this thread.
